A kit home company is promising that anyone can put together its energy-efficient, environmentally-friendly houses – and it can be done in just four weeks.

Ecokit provides comfortable and modern homes that save homeowners the time and extra construction costs of building from scratch.

The kit houses are also designed in a way that encourages the use of renewable energy sources such as solar energy and hydroelectricity.

One of the easy-to-build houses is already being constructed in the Snowy Mountains in New South Wales.

‘Ecokit is an innovative construction system that utilises pre-fabricated, standardised timber components that are lightweight, easy to install and do not require lifting equipment,’ according to a video on Newsflare.

Ecokit says it delivers the neatly packaged parts to the building site in a shipping container for convenience, regardless of the location.

In the video, many parts of the house are already built just four days into the construction.

Ecokit also claims potential homeowners can be creative in the design of their homes while still making use of eco-friendly building materials.

The prices vary depending on house design, style and location, but it generally ranges from $140,000 to $400,000.

Ecokit has its own price calculator to help you estimate how much your dream home could cost. For example, a one-storey, modest studio in New South Wales built with cheaper DIY materials would cost around $140,000.

A more lavish home, however, could set you back as much as $400,000.

For this, you would get a 2-bedroom house with a porch. The materials consist of a stainless steel roof, PV & solar hot water tiles combined with standard tiles, good quality exterior cladding, double-glazed windows, a corner unit sliding door, along with standard plasterboard.

Ecokit can also build a holiday home, a studio or even an office.
